This course is crafted to enhance the foundational reading and writing skills acquired by students during their early elementary years. Its goal is to expand participants' comprehension and proficiency in diverse literacy aspects, nurturing advanced competencies crucial for academic, professional, and personal achievements. Through a combination of theoretical exploration, practical application, and critical analysis, participants will actively engage in activities that foster higher-level literacy skills. Enrollees will delve into three theoretical frameworks of literacy development and explore research and instructional strategies aimed at advancing literacy skills for all students in the third through fifth grades.
This course is worth 15 PD clock hours or 1 graduate-level credit.
