This comprehensive literacy course for K-12 educators explores the theoretical foundations of literacy development across all grade levels, from early childhood to high school. Participants will examine research-based instructional strategies to support diverse learners, addressing foundational skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and writing, as well as advanced literacy competencies critical for academic, professional, and personal success. Through a blend of theory, practical application, and critical analysis, this course equips educators with effective strategies to support literacy growth at every stage. Participants will engage with three theoretical frameworks of literacy development and apply instructional practices to meet the needs of readers spanning kindergarten through 12th grade.
This course is worth 45 PD clock hours or 3 graduate-level credits.
